Poems

Paint My Tomorrows

by Alicia Hugg Cutting

I will sing you a song

Edged with sweet longing

Melodic magic

Chords of bliss

Lyrics of soul

Take now my etchings

Sanguine tinged portraits

In hues of sunshine

Spatters of sorrow

Sweet core of my being

Sing sonnets to me

Verses of beauty

Choruses of life

Paint my tomorrows

With love.

Guest Poet: Sharon Rodgers

For my son Kelly Brent Kubicek

The sleepy sun rises each morning

The harvest moon glows every night

They do not know my heart is broken

a life forever bereft of light.

The creaking walls echo the silence,

the only sounds the night can hear.

For a youthful heart has just stopped beating.

A loving son no longer near.

A soul asleep so warm and peaceful,

ever close he’ll always be.

If home is really where the heart is

his nome will always be with me.

Until the Silence

by Alicia Hugg Cutting

Write verse like chapter, chapter verse

Words float on rafters of mindfulness

Stung by life’s turbulence

Shaped by its stillness

We go on

Travelers on seas of contemplation

Slowed when rivers of stone

Create mystical pathways

We must pursue

Until the silence

Consumes our journey

Until the silence

Becomes our goal
